I want this (Mills Blue Rhythm Band 1933-34 (chron. classic)) SO badly.
Everyone else has it, I have to too.
Then I want this (Henry Red Miller and his Orch 1929-30 (JSP)).
And to be absolutely clear, I also want this (The Band Don Redman Built – McKinney’s Cotton Pickers (RCA).
All scratchy, all the time.

You should all ready have all the recordings off “The Band Don Redman Built – McKinney’s Cotton Pickers”
What you want is some Luis Russell.
Brian :-)
But I only have one MKP CD! I need more!! But I’m eyeing off that Luis Russell stuff – I read that his band was later led by Louis Armstrong in 1935, and I’m pretty fond of Armstrong in this period…
I really love the humour and hot, feisty energy of these artists in that moment…
I think I also need a decently comprehensive history of jazz to read up…
